Fix cracks and small holes of interior wall
Whether its an old screw hole or your wall has a crack due to settling, you will want to fix them before painting because paint will make them more noticable. We will show you how to do so here.
What you will need:
- Putty knife
- Spackle
- Sanding block or paper
- Damp cloth
- Primer
1. Clean up the area
With a brush o vacuum remove all the dust or debris. You can also use a wet rag to clean it more thoroughly; just let it dry.
2. Fill the hole or crack
Put some spackling or joint filler onto your putty knife. Slide the knife over the hole or crack trying to cover it as flat as possible. You may want to repeat the process to make it as flat as possible.
3. Let dry and sand.
Follow the recommended dry times of your specific spackle or joint filler. After its dry you can start sanding until it's nice and flat. Don't forget to wipe all the dust with a damp cloth
4. Prime
Primer will prevent the filler absorbing the new paint plus it will aid with the adhesion of the new paint.
You are now ready for paint.
